Snippe

Configure Snippe as a payment gateway for subscribers in Tanzania. Supports card (Visa/Mastercard) and local mobile money (M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Tigo Pesa, Halotel) payments in Tanzanian Shilling (TZS).

You need a Snippe merchant account. Register at snippe.sh.

Snippe is available for merchants who collect payments in Tanzania. The gateway operates strictly in Tanzanian Shillings (TZS). Ensure that your Wi-Fi packages have their price set in TZS with no cents (values rounded to integer).

How It Works

Snippe supports two modes of checkout depending on the user's preference:

1.Mobile Money (USSD Push): Subscriber enters their Tanzanian phone number. A push payment prompt (PIN request) is sent directly to their handset. We poll the transaction status automatically.
2.Card Payment (Redirect Checkout): Subscriber is redirected to a secure card entry page hosted by Snippe. Once they enter card details and complete 3D Secure, they return back and the package activates immediately.

Setup Guide

1

Get API Credentials

Log in to your Snippe Dashboard and navigate to Settings → Developers. Retrieve the following credentials:

API KeyYour auth bearer token starting with sn_live_...
Webhook SecretUsed to sign webhook payloads, starting with whsec_...
2

Enable Snippe in VillageHub

Go to Admin PanelSettingsPayments. Choose Snippe and enter your API Key and Webhook Secret.

Verify that your packages currency is set to TZS, otherwise transactions will fail verification.
3

Configure Webhook URL

Copy your custom Webhook URL from the Settings page and register it in the Snippe Dashboard Developer settings:

Webhook URL
https://isp.village-connect.app/api/payments/snippe/callback/{subdomain}

This webhook URL allows Snippe to alert our server about successful subscriber payments in real-time, even if the subscriber closes their browser.

Ready to Go!

The portal will now display Cards and Mobile Money checkout options automatically for your subscribers in Tanzania.

Troubleshooting & Walled Garden

MikroTik Walled Garden Rules

For Card redirects to work, subscribers must be allowed to access Snippe hosts before logging in. Ensure the following domains are in your MikroTik Walled Garden:

  • api.snippe.sh
  • checkout.snippe.sh

Webhook Signature Mismatches

Ensure the Webhook Secret key starts with whsec_... and matches your webhook settings on the Snippe Dashboard exactly. If signed payloads fail verification, payments won't activate automatically.
