Comparison
VillageHub vs Jasiyo
Updated 6 November 2026 · VillageHub
Short answer
For most operators in Kenya, VillageHub is the better value: the rates match Jasiyo (3% of hotspot collections, KES 25 per PPPoE client), but the monthly minimum is KES 500 instead of KSh 1,000, the free trial is 30 days instead of 7, and you also get TP-Link Omada support, agent and white-label customer apps, and AI support tools. Beyond Kenya, VillageHub prices locally in Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria, while Jasiyo lists Kenya and Uganda. Jasiyo is the better fit if you want to connect a Paybill or Till with no Daraja app, or need MTN MoMo and Airtel Money at the portal in Uganda.

Pricing compared
In Kenya the rates are the same, so the minimum decides it. Both platforms work out 3% of hotspot collections plus the per-client PPPoE fee, then apply one minimum across the account. VillageHub’s minimum is KES 500 and Jasiyo’s is KSh 1,000, so VillageHub costs less until your usage fee passes KSh 1,000. That is about KSh 33,000 of hotspot collections a month. Above that point, the two cost the same.
A hotspot collecting KES 20,000 a month pays VillageHub KES 600 and Jasiyo KSh 1,000. At KES 10,000 it pays KES 500 and KSh 1,000. At KES 40,000 both charge 1,200.
In Uganda the gap is wider and does not close as you grow. Hotspot is 3% on VillageHub and 6% on Jasiyo, and PPPoE is UGX 900 against UGX 1,600 per client. A network with 100 PPPoE clients pays UGX 90,000 on VillageHub and UGX 160,000 on Jasiyo. Check the gateway question below before you decide, because VillageHub does not yet take MTN MoMo or Airtel Money at the portal in Uganda.
Kenya and beyond
Both are built in Kenya and both know M-Pesa. Customers get an STK push, and the money lands in your own account rather than the vendor’s. If you only ever run in Kenya, VillageHub still gives you a lower minimum, a longer trial and more tools for the same rates.
The difference grows when your network crosses a border. VillageHub has local prices and local gateways in Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria as well as Kenya, so you can stay on one platform as you expand.
When VillageHub is the better choice
- You run a small or growing hotspot and want the lower KES 500 minimum.
- You want 30 days to test real sales before you pay anything.
- You run TP-Link Omada access points as well as, or instead of, MikroTik.
- You operate, or plan to operate, in Tanzania, Ghana or Nigeria.
- You sell through agents and want an Android agent app with QR sales.
- You want your own branded Android app for customers.
- You want AI support chat on the portal, so customers get answers without calling you.
- You want deep portal control: 11 designs, 12 themes, English and Kiswahili, and a different look per router.
- You want night and weekend packages, discounts, outage credits, loyalty points and referrals out of the box.
When Jasiyo is the better choice
- You want to register an existing Paybill or Till with no Daraja app and no aggregator account. On VillageHub you connect Daraja keys, or use Kopo Kopo, MegaPay or Paystack.
- Your customers in Uganda pay mainly with MTN MoMo or Airtel Money at the portal. VillageHub does not have a Ugandan mobile money gateway yet.
- You want your existing PPPoE usernames and passwords read straight from the router. VillageHub imports them from a CSV or Excel file.
- You want to send SMS without opening a provider account. Jasiyo has a built-in sender, though messages show Jasiyo as the sender rather than your business name.
How to decide
- 1Price your real monthTake last month’s hotspot collections and active PPPoE clients and run them through both price lists, including the minimums.
- 2Check your payment pathConfirm how you will take money on each platform: Daraja keys, an aggregator, or direct Paybill or Till registration.
- 3Trial on one routerConnect one site and test vouchers, payments and reconnects with real customers. VillageHub’s 30 days cover a full billing cycle.
